A scene from Dexter: Early Cuts

I’m a big fan of Dexter and so I’m happy to hear Showtime are producing an animated web series titled Dexter: Early Cuts.

Dexter: Early Cuts is going to be a 12 part series told in four one or two minute chapters.  It will be built on the mythology of the live-action series.  I’m laughing out loud (in a good way) at the idea that the animated series will show fans how his slaying techniques have evolved.

Dexter: Early Cuts will premiere Oct. 25 on www.sho.com.

Avatar Basic Action Figures Wave 1

The first line of action figures based on James Cameron’s Avatar are now available for pre-order via Entertainment Earth.

Normally I wouldn’t post stock standard action figures like these however I thought I’d make an exception in this case given the added i-Tag functionality that comes with them. I’m guessing a lot of people will have some fun with it.

In short, each of these Avatar action figures comes with an i-Tag, which is a tag that enables you to play with the ‘Augmented Reality’ on the Avatar website, www.avataritag.com.

Now to the toys.  Each action figure  is made at 3 3/4-inch scale and comes with a display stand.  Each one is individually packaged with accessories (Jake gets a wheelchair, and packs also include weapons) and its own i-Tag.

Medicom Toy Corp Limited Edition Alien 12-Inch RAH Figure (click to enlarge)

This Medicom Toy Corporation 12-inch 1:6 scale RAH Alien figure is simply superb.

These outstanding action figures are of the highest quality and offer one of the most articulated 12-inch figure bodies available, capable of nearly any pose you can imagine.

This particular figure is a Limited Edition (I believe of 500, but don’t quote me on that).  Either way they aren’t easy to find.

These are a rare commodity.  They were recently sold out at Sideshow Collectibles, but someone didn’t follow through so now there’s a second chance opportunity going there.

If you want one, Sideshow is a good place to go right now for as long as the second chance opportunity lasts.  They have it available for $169.99 which, considering these Alien collectibles are going to be hard to get, is a good deal.

When Sideshow sell out (which you can count on shortly), you can try eBay.  At the moment there’s one on eBay for $179.99.

1:6 Scale Two Face from 'The Dark Knight' (click to enlarge)

Now this is an impressive 1:6 scale figure of Two Face from The Dark Knight that manages to retain a perfectly detailed likeness of actor Aaron Eckhart.

It’s a Hot Toys collectible that stands 12-inches tall and boasts more than 32 points of articulation.

I’ve seen this floating around at in excess of $160 in some stores, however Urban Collector have 3 available on eBay with an incredibly low Buy it Now of $127.99.  That’s as cheap as I’ve seen it.

Features:

• Dressed in Two-Face accurate costume of destroyed suit, shirt, tie, pants and shoes, the character wear in the Dark Knight movie
• Alternate head with authentic likeness of Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent

Urban Collector’s eBay advert states this is a Limited Edition item.  I’m not sure if this is accurate or, if it is, how many it is limited to.  But in any case they only have 3 on eBay at this price and the auction only has 5 days left, so it’s certainly limited in that respect.

First Collectibles from Shaner Acker's '9'

Entertainment Earth have announced the first collectibles from Shane Acker’s animated sci-fi/fantasy film 9. It’s a well timed announcement because today is the day the film has been released.

EE are advertising these as collectibles from Tim Burton’s 9 but perhaps that’s only because director Shane Acker isn’t as well known yet as producer Tim Burton.

This is also a weird collectible in that the film features 9 characters with ‘9′ being the pivotal character, voiced by Elijah Wood.  Yet the first collectibles on offer come in an ‘Action Figures Series 1 Case‘ that features 8 individually packaged action figures.  The figures are not specified as yet.

Personally I find it a little annoying to see 8 action figures in a case from a movie about 9 characters.  It seems to me a commercial ploy to make us buy more than one case to ensure we get all the figures!

Sadly, it will probably work because these rag-doll characters are cool to behold and the film is so highly anticipated that I’m guessing collectible dolls from it will be in demand.

Unfortunately I don’t know a lot about these action figures – what they are made from, how tall they are, etc etc.  I imagine further details will come to hand at a later date.

For now if you’re keen to get them you’ll have to take a bit of a lucky dip approach and pre-order from here.

Iron Man Mk II 12-Inch Figure

“Ohhh what!” were the exclaiming words that came out of my mouth when my eyes first fell upon this awesome looking Iron Man collectible.  Now it’s available via a second chance opportunity, which means it was all sold out but someone lost their deposit after failing to pay the final balance.  In other words, snap it up quickly or miss out.

It’s a Hot Toys manufactured 12 inch figure based upon the Iron Man Mk II figure from the Iron Man film, and “hot” really describes this collectible.

Martin Laing Signature Edition Terminator T-600

If there’s a popular collectible on the planet it’s Terminator action figures.  They tend to sell out like crazy and most Limited Editions are gone before you know it. These T600’s are coming in January 2010 and I’m guessing they’re going to sell like hot cakes too.

This particular Terminator T-600 Action Figure was inspired by the original T-600 concept art created by Terminator Salvation production designer and artist Martin Laing.

The T-600 is designed with a variant machine gun and bullet container design.  The severed heads of two T-700 machines can be seen at its feet.

This edition comes with an exclusive base feature that allows the T-700 heads at the feet light up.

Stands approximately 14-inches tall with over 25 points of articulation, plus completely articulated fingers.

Its eyes light up (button-cell battery operated, and the battery is included).

Accessories include a Gatling gun ammo pack based on conceptual artwork by Martin Laing.

Figure base is a nameplate.

Indiana Jones Collectible: 12 inch Toht and Ark of the Covenant (click to enlarge)

If you’re looking for Raiders of the Lost Ark collectibles then you might like this 12 inch figure of Toht that comes packaged with a Sideshow exclusive: a Polystone Ark of the Covenant replica.

These are limited to only 1000 pieces worldwide, but I’m really impressed with how cool the Ark of the Covenant replica looks.

Backstory:

1936 – South American Jungle. Dr. Indiana Jones narrowly escapes the deathly booby traps that guard an ancient fertility idol. Indy emerges from the idol’s cave, only to be met by his old rival Rene Belloq, surrounded by natives with poisoned darts, who demands the idol. Empty handed, Indy returns to Marshal College and his post as a professor of archeology. When his old friend Marcus Brody and the US Government discover a Nazi excavation in Egypt, they pay a visit to Dr. Jones to gain his aid, and recover the mysterious treasure before the Nazi excavation team.

Indiana Jones quickly realizes that the Nazis, aided by Belloq, have discovered the ancient city of Tanis, the resting place for the Ark of the Covenant. The Ark is said to house the Ten Commandments and grant incredible power to the one who can open it, potentially allowing the Nazis to destroy vast stretches of the world. To find the Ark before the Nazis, Indy must retrieve the medallion headpiece of the Staff of Ra from his old girlfriend Marion Ravenwood, unaware that a Nazi agent, Major Arnold Ernst Toht, is following close behind. The two men cross path in a fiery barroom brawl that leaves one side of the medallion’s carvings burned into Toht’s palm, the medallion safe with Marion. Traveling to Egypt, Marion and Indy seek the help of an old friend, Sallah, while Belloq attempts to read Toht’s injury as a map to the Ark.

After translating the medallion’s carvings, Indiana Jones and Egyptian excavator Sallah discover the Ark’s true resting place. They begin to dig, knowing that without both sides of the medallion, the Nazis are searching the wrong location, but it doesn’t take long for Belloq to realize the missing pieces of the medallion’s puzzle. The Ark of the Covenant unearthed and the Nazi’s in close pursuit, a struggle begins that would ultimately land the relic and Marion in the wrong hands. Indy closes in on Marion and the Ark, only to be captured himself. In their rush to unleash the relic’s incredible power, Belloq and the Nazis have forgotten the Ark’s sacred requirements, and soon find out the weight of their impatience.

Gort 16 Inch Collector's Action Figure

Check out Amok Time’s 16-inch PVC action figure of Gort from The Day the Earth Stood Still. This is the original Gort from the 1951 classic, not the one from the Keanu Reeve’s film of the same name.

Gort features retro styled packaging, a deluxe 4-color window box with a fifth panel, 6 points of articulation and looks supremely accurate to Gort from the original film.
